The UDRI Additive Manufacturing Technology Development (AMTD) group specializes in the innovation, development, implementation, and commercialization of AM technologies. AMTD has proven experience developing metal AM processes, novel materials, and parts, integrating multi-disciplinary AM platforms, correlating process models to LPBF/SLM prints, AM in-situ inspection techniques, and designing custom test cells and experiments for part evaluation. In an on-going partnership with the DoD, UDRI has developed open architecture metal AM and laser machining systems with a full suite of in-situ monitoring sensors, that can be utilized for smart parameter development, novel applications, materials experimentation, and reducing part qualification times. AMTD is dedicated to driving innovation through the fusion of open AM laser technologies, sensors, materials, and applications.
